The telenovela “Cacau”, produced by Plural for TVI, has just conquered two new French-speaking markets, reinforcing the global reach of Portuguese fiction.
Written by Maria João Costa and directed by Edgard Miranda, the Portuguese telenovela has been acquired by two French television stations, one with distribution for mainland France, including Monaco and Andorra, and the other for the overseas territories (DOM-TOM), which includes Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana, Réunion, Mayotte, New Caledonia, French Polynesia, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Wallis and Futuna, among others.
At the moment, “Cacau” is being dubbed into French, and is scheduled to premiere on these channels’ grids in 2025.
With this sale, “Cacau” has just reached a historic milestone: it has already been sold to 90 countries, making it Plural’s most widely distributed soap opera ever.
